Courtney Cox Arquette has not only filed for divorce against David Arquette, but is changing her name. She has filed to legally remove Arquette as part of her last name. Along with the divorce papers filed, Cox no longer wants to carry her estranged husband's name and has requested that her name be restored to Courtney Cox.
After twelve years of marriage, Cox has made the decision to move ahead and create a new life for herself and her daughter Coco. Shortly after officially filing her divorce papers and name change she was spotted in the cozy and comfortable atmosphere of the Japanese restaurant Nobu in Malibu. The day after filing Cox attended the Vintage Hollywood Fundraiser at Arquette's home in Beverly Hills.
Both Cox and Arquette state they are having an amicable divorce and want to have joint custody of Coco, their eight year old daughter. They have stated irreconcilable differences as the reason for their divorce. Cox has remained single, but Arquette had a brief romance with Christina McLarty, TV reporter.
In October 2010 the couple publicly announced their separation. They met in 1996 on the set of the movie Scream and married three years later. This year they would have celebrated their thirteenth anniversary.
