Jennifer Flavin has filed for divorce from Sylvester Stallone (best known for his roles in the Rocky and Rambo films). She filed on Aug 19th in Palm Beach Florida.
Why Is the Couple Calling It Quit?
Flavin and Stallone have been married for 25 years, and they just celebrated this milestone three months ago. Stallone also recently announced that their family (the couple and their six children) are involved in filming a reality show for Paramount+, which is why the divorce comes as a surprise to many.
While no statement has been made concerning the exact reason for their split, reportedly, a source claims the couple is very different. Stallone “tends to do things on a whim without asking” Flavin, and they supposedly have differing personalities that cause small disagreements (that can add up over time).
According to the divorce petition, Flavin claims that Stallone wastefully dissipated marital assets, and she has asked that Stallone be prohibited from spending or selling assets during their divorce. Wasteful dissipation occurs when a spouse intentionally wastes money or fails to preserve assets. Some people intentionally waste assets in anticipation of their divorce; however, other people may waste assets because of gambling, drug use, excessive spending, gift-giving, or unnecessary borrowing.
Stallone is fighting against this claim, and he has responded to her filing. He disputes having wastefully dissipated assets and is contesting her request to have sole use of their Palm Beach home.
If a person is found to have wastefully dissipated assets, they can suffer in the divorce. Specifically, the guilty party can face having a less than favorable determination made concerning the division of marital assets.
